The way out of Logroño took us past the Pantano de La Grajera (reservoir) through the town of Navarette and the village of Ventosa before entering Nájera. We passed by the ruins of the medieval monastery of the order of San Juan de Acre founded in the XXII Century. He we saw a Peregrino using a different form of travel.
You will also see pictures of the XVI Century Church of the Assumption near the town square of Navarette. Before entering Nájera we come to the Poyo de Roldán where the legend says that Roldán slew the Muslim giant Ferragut with a well -aimed rock. Sound familiar? This act freed the captive Christian knights of Charlemagne’s army.
Lastly, we have pictures of Nájera the once capital of the Kingdom of Navarre in the XI and XII centuries.
