This stage was one of the most rewarding for both Robert and myself.
Robert and I left Nájera not knowing the adventures that would befall us and both of us had encounters related to our professions almost immediately upon leaving town. As I walked ahead I noticed that Robert was not behind me. I turned and saw him talking to a farmer and then went to where they were to assist with any translation. The farmer was proud of his sheep and Robert confirmed that they were fine animals. Both Robert and the farmer questioned each other about the sheep farming conditions in their respective countries.
Not 5 minutes after concluding our visit to the farm a very excited group of school children caught up with us and peppered us with questions about where we were from. The teacher of this group was a young woman named Tamara and she also was very excited to see us (maybe the previous lesson was about the Camino?). We took lots of pictures and emailed them to Tamara so that she could share them with the children. I was very excited by their excitement.
The rest of the day was a stroll through beautiful wine country. Not a bad way to go. Upon reaching Santo Domingo de la Calzada we visited the Cathedral and the tower next to the Cathedral that offered some stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
